Caitlin Wilson

I need to share my new fave place for accent pillows and prints - Caitlin Wilson!  Even though they have a small and well-edited inventory - what they have is a fresh take on the classics - gingham, polka dots and greek key.  Me and my clients are currently dying over how fun and perfect these prints are, and I hope you enjoy them too.  Here are some of my favorite items:

Told you it was darling.

Dos Caminos

Ooooook. Ooooooook.  I have been super naughty this week.  For one, I still haven't posted my new design updates - that is going to be my resolution for this weekend.  In my defense,  I have taken on 6 clients in my freelance work and this week has been bananas.

To cope, I have been participating in my second naughty act - eating out.  Tonight I finally got over to Dos Caminos at their Meatpacking location.  I really don't know why I have been dying to go there, but seeing Heather, Luann and Bethenny dining there on Tuesday's new episode of RHONY did not make me want to go there any less.

So I went!  And got a marg.  And took a spicy shot.  And had the shrimp/steak tacos with the bacon guacamole.  Who do I think I am?

I do not regret a bite, but I do plan on detoxing and eating only fruit the rest of the weekend.

No regrets!

P.S. How fabulous is this wall?? Totally my color scheme right now.

Take care,

Jack's Wife Freda

Last night I checked off one of the top restaurants on my dining wish list - Jack's Wife Freda.  I would say I seriously lucked out because when my friend Marina and I met at their Soho location, we found out it was closed for a private event and that if we went to their West Village location we would receive complimentary champagne - say no more!

We ordered their beet dip and their roasted cauliflower to start and both were so so yummy.  Then for dinner, I was inclined to order their tuna salad until I overheard the server at the table next to us say that it was canned tuna... how do they even own up to that?  So repulsed, I went with their vegetable curry bowl that was served over couscous and had chutney on top.  It was a very nice curry - curry is maybe my favorite food - and makes me want to trying adding eggplant the next time I make my own curry.  Obviously we shared a side of fries because why not??

It was a beautiful night and so special to spend time with my friend with all of this incredible food!  I would definitely go back and recommend this spot to anyone.  It is supposed to be a great spot to see celebs, but sadly none were to be found last night.

On the way home we walked up through Union square and then ended up getting some prosecco at a bar closer to where we live on the East Side.

Now off to meet a client and then get ready to go out tonight!  More to come soon!

Best,
T

Spring in the City

I am working on some design posts for this weekend and to share next week, but I wanted to post this picture I took on my way into work this morning!  Pinch me moment - I love the Upper East Side.

Happy Friday to all and more to come soon!

Ikea, I'm sooo over you.

But I love you.  Being "broke" is only so horrible when your excitement over new furniture has to compete with your despise for Ikea and their instruction manuals.  And lack of explanation.  Just hell.

My dresser arrived and thank the Lord for the delivery men because I couldn't even slide the boxes across my studio to where I wanted to assemble the dresser.  Fast forward five hours, 7 angry snap chats, 2 Stellas and countless mini tantrums - I got my dresser!

So so so SO nice to have a home for my clothes and a "junk" drawer.  Storage is everything!  It makes my space feel significantly more homey and makes me even more impatient to keep the decorating momentum going.

I decided to put it across from my closets.  Eventually I will get a more decorative, smaller dresser to go in that spot and will move this piece across from the foot of my bed for a TV.  For now, I plan to put my Donald poster propped up against the back and am on the hunt for a jewelry tray or something decorative to balance out the orchid.  If I get my lamp here from home, that will definitely go on here as well!

So happy to share my space with you as I slowly make it a home.  I am sore and fried from battling Ikea all day, but I'm sure I'll makeup with Ikea tomorrow.

A French Fry Filled Birthday

This week has been super crazy - but most importantly it was my birthday!  As we know, I am new to the city and it was a little sad not being able to celebrate with my best friends or my family.  And having to work all day.  Welcome to the reality of grown-up birthdays I guess?

To celebrate, me and three of my friends from college went to Serendipity 3 where Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack meet in the fabulous film, "Serendipity."   I will note I had to make the reservation a month in advance - this place is seriously always busy and that you MUST see this chick flick if you have not already done so.  I intended for it to be a dinner, but over the course of the afternoon, I realized I just wanted to try their famous frozen hot chocolate so we decided to order a foot long hot dog for the table, two orders of french fries, a frozen hot chocolate and a "Forbidden Broadway Sundae."  I thought that the frozen hot chocolate was exactly what you would imagine it to be, but disappointing compared to the blackout cake in the sundae.  It was just sick and wrong and what we ordered was more than enough for 4 girls.

Interior design side note - the place is crammed and small but so cute and completely Art Nouveau.  There are tons of gawdy touches, like over the top chandeliers and mirrored butterflies.  I love it.  And the place is done in lavender and light pink - it is totally my color scheme!!

Here is an obviously instagrammed pic - I am not a photog!  Need to work on improving my photography but I just do not have time or money to dedicate to that quite yet!

How happy do I look over the fries and chocolate??  Seriously in my happy place.

Lusting for Lilac

As today is Easter, I thought it would be appropriate to discuss my latest obsession - lilac.  I am still a true pink girl, but lately I can not get enough lilac in my life.

Here are some of my current favorite things that all are the lovely light purple I adore.  I have the Vans for J. Crew and the Essie polish (love the name "Hubby for Dessert") - lusting over the bedding and really trying to justify replacing my now very sad looking duvet cover and mismatched pillow shams before investing in other basics - like seating.  The bedding is from Biscuit - which I have to say has the most incredible bedding selection I have seen from a vendor probably ever.  I am also just trying to pace my limited spending.

Happy Easter!

Get Ready Delivery Boys...

After being in my apartment for one month, I have finally pulled the trigger and have 2 pieces coming my way!  Let me remind you I have been living with my mattress, a cardboard box and a little side table which is cute, but ratan and old and I fear the weight of my chamomile tea will eventually cause it to break.  Sigh.

I decided to start with a dresser.  I am obsessed with clothes and the little piles of random things on my floor that I keep trying to slide under my bed are driving me insane! I got the basic Malm dresser from ikea.  It is similar in profile to some of the ones that I was looking at from CB2 and for the price you cannot beat the storage.  Even with the tax, shipping and delivery fees being equivalent to the cost of the piece, I am totally ok with this purchase.  Although there is an Ikea in Brooklyn, I am not paying for the taxi ride home for me to try to recruit somebody, anybody, to help me haul this thing up three flights of stairs.  I am more than happy to put some delivery boys to work!  I am planning on putting the dresser across from my closets to create a "dressing room" between the bed and the bathroom.  This studio is all about me and the idea of a dressing room makes me so so happy and excited.  I have a fabulous lamp back at home in Minnesota that I will pray my mom will find a way to safely ship out to me and will eventually try to find a mirror to go above the dresser.  And a jewelry stand.  And some decor.  These things take time!

The second item I ordered was a Serena and Lily Atelier Side Table that I had had on my Pinterest board for quite some time.  It was originally $395, but with their sale and an additional 20% of sale, I got it for just under $200 with tax and shipping.  This is a better deal even than some of the less fabulous Target and CB2 options (sorry CB2 is getting bashed in this post) that I had been looking at and they had considerably higher shipping and delivery charges.  I love this piece because my bedding is white and frilly and I really want to make my apartment a blend of glamour, pops of color, modern and feminine.  And I have just really had a thing for light blue lately?  I can't explain it.

I will make sure to take pictures once the pieces arrive and can't wait to share with you how my space comes together as it begins to look like a real grown-up space.  Just remember, I'm on a serious budget and trying to make all my fabulous interior design dreams come true.
